Beauty: Pamper yourself with a DIY spa day!

Hey everyone. With winter here, all I want to do is stay cooped up inside my warm apartment, and not even go near the door in fear of freezing to death! But, who wants to stay at home all day? It gets so boring! So, why not pamper yourself with a DIY spa! I chose my favorite things that make up a perfect at home spa, that are super easy and quick. I hope you enjoy! xoxo- Paris
Don't forget: write a comment telling us what your favorite, "snow day activity," is. Aside from making a spa, mine is probably curling up on the couch to watch a movie :)

1) Set the scene!
Choose a quiet room where you can dim the lights, light some candles, or spray your favorite room spray to give a relaxing aroma. Then make sure you have a warm tea or hot chocolate to sip on, that will give your spa day a, "cozy," touch!

2) Make your facial steam.
My favorite part of a DIY facial, is the facial steam! They are so easy and so calming. First take a deep bowl and fill with hot water (make sure it is hot enough so you see steam, but not too hot to burn yourself! Also, don't fill up the bowl all the way, you don't want the water too close to your face!) Then add in either: lemon slices, mint leaves (dried or fresh), rosemary (dried or fresh), or lavender essential oil. These are my favorite things to put in, (not all at once though!) but you can substitute with about anything. Lastly, put you face over the bowl, with a towel over you head, and let the steam open you pores and refresh your senses! The best part is... it is warm!

3) Scrub away the dead skin!
DIY scrubs are easy to make, and really work! The one I am sharing with you is for your body, but you can make different scrubs for most parts of your body! (ex: face, feet, hands, etc.) I chose a peppermint salt scrub. You will first put 1 cup of fine sea salt in a medium sized bowl. Then add 2 tablespoons of oil (any will do, preferably canola though.) Finally add 5-6 drops of peppermint essential oil. This adds a refreshing quality to the scrub, but any essential oil will do. Then buff onto body and step in the shower or tub to rinse it off. Your skin should feel baby-soft by the end.

4) Give yourself a foot massage.
Of course rubbing your feet with your hands is a simple and effective way to massage, but the way I'm about to show you calls for no personal labor whatsoever. Fill a bowl (around the size of your foot so you can fit it in) with some marbles. Don't over-do it on the marbles, just enough so that you can easily put you foot in the bowl, roll you foot around on the marbles, and it give your feet a nice massage.
(this method can be used for a hand massage as well!)

5) Give your hair a rinse.
These light hair rinses are super simple, and leave you hair squeaky clean! The one I am teaching you will also give your hair lightening qualities. Squeeze one lemon, (try to avoid seeds) and mix with 2 cups of warm water. After you have shampooed and conditioned your hair, stay in the shower (turn off the water) and pour this over you head, I suggest you do this slowly so that you can make sure to get every inch of your head, instead of letting it go down the drain!
